Congratulations to one of our Annlin Super Stars!!

She is only 10 years old and yet last week this lucky and very talented young girl spent the whole of last week on a movie set :-)
Mannequin Films have just finished filming the short film, The Drum. Tshiamo, one of our Helen O' Grady Drama Academy Students who is also a member of our casting agency, Aardvark Casting, was cast as,Norma, the lead role!!!
Norma is a lonely and neglected little girl. She has a quiet but tough demeanour, and the street smarts that have helped her survive without any friends or family. Yet she is an innocent child, and subconsciously longs for a way to express herself, and a friend who will validate her existence.
The Production Manager said that Tshiamo was fantastic both on and off set!
Tshiamo got to play alongside another one of our Aardvarkers, Lucky Nombula.

Lucky played the other main character in the story,Thabo, who  is a friendly drifter and travelling musician, telling stories through the rhythmic beats of his goatskin drum. During our story, he forms a special friendship with a lonely girl, in whom he discovers a kindred spirit.
It is such a wonderful story written by Kecia Romiel and we look forward to seeing the final edit!

It's Disco Fever Time at our Wierda Park Studio

Our Theme was Disco Fever!! We had some wonderful outfits and our play was a huge success!!!
Students (aged 9-12yrs) from the Wierda Park, Lyttelton, Heuwelsig and Rooihuiskraal areas join us every Friday afternoon from 4-5. Under the expert tuition of Larisa Grove they are soaring to new heights!!

Having Fun at our Wierda Park Studio

Our Wierda Park students always remember to bring props and dress up for their plays! They had so much fun Going on Holiday - using the props really made the play feel 'real' :-)
We had an unexpected guest at Drama today...luckily he was happy to just sit on the wall outside...

Erasmia Lower Primary had so much fun with their props!

Our students ages 5-9yrs who attend our classes in Erasmia on Thursday afternoons were so excited last week - partly because they were allowed to bring props to drama and partly because many of them were getting ready to celebrate Eid - we hope they all had a wonderful day on Sunday!

The class was filled laughter and we had so much fun using our props to tell our story about going on holiday!

Drama Classes in Midlands Growing steadily

After many requests the Helen O' Grady Drama Academy opened in Midlands last month. The Helen O' Grady Drama Academy has been operating in South Africa for more than 10 years and in 2009 Juliet Jordaan opened a branch in Pretoria. There are currently 10 studios operating in Midrand, Centurion and Pretoria and now the Midlands Studio makes 11!!

We have a wonderful mix of new and old students at our Midlands Studio. This week they were asked to dress up - 'Disco Stye' for their improv which was fabulous!

Come join our drama classes at our new studio in Midlands, near Midstream Estate

We run Drama classes in Midlands at the Kerk Sonder Mure on Wednesday afternoons. We have 2 separate age groups : 5-8yrs from 3-4pm and 9-16yrs from 4-5pm. This week our Lower Primary group were asked to bring props for our High Impact Activity, Family Holiday. They had so much fun learning to act with props!! After that they performed a prop snippet with a bucket...they may be young but wow they have incredible imaginations!

BROOKLYN YOUTH THEATRE ARE DYNAMIC

We have an amazing group of teenagers who attend our Youth Theatre group for ages 13-18yrs! Their teacher Larisa Grove really looks forward to this class as they amaze her with their vivid imaginations and excellent acting skills!

OUR BROOKLYN UPPER PRIMARY CERTAINLY GOT INTO CHARACTER WITH THEIR DISCO THEME

What an amazing and talented group of 9-12year olds we have on a Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn! When we ask these students to dress up – there is no holding back! The use of costumes and props helps actors to really get into character and make their performance believable.
