THEATRE EXPERIENCE WEEK OFFICIALLY STARTS MONDAY 17 NOVEMBER!

Dear Parents

For the first time at Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Pretoria we are having a Theatre Experience Week!

                                            What does this mean?

Instead of going to your normal studio for your dress rehearsal - you will be going to the Masker Theatre at Tukkies!
This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to get the feel of a real theatre and for those planning on studying at Tukkies it is an opportunity to visit the campus!

Students are to arrive in FULL COSTUME with MAKE UP! If the Academy is providing make up / costume please arrive 15 minutes earlier than scheduled!

Photo Shoot - every student will have their photos taken and there will be a CLASS photo!! The photos will be on sale on the day of the show. A5 photos - 1 x  INDIVIDUAL 1 X CLASS = R60.00

If you are not sure of the time of your rehearsal or show please sms Juliet 0829091630 or email juliet@helenogrady.co.za. It is best to contact Juliet in the mornings as afternoons we are very busy with rehearsals and shows!

It was impossible for some studios to  have their lessons at the Theatre - they will have their have Theatre Experience just before they perform on the weekend! TERM 1 DRAWS TO A CLOSE

It is hard to believe that we have already come to the end of Term 1 2013!!
We have had a very exciting term! So many of our loyal students returned for another year filled with DRAMA!
We also had lots of new students join - it has been wonderful to meet so many enthusiastic students and share our love of Drama with them!

The term officially ended on Wednesday 20 March (although this excludes our Beaulieu studio which is run on a three term basis)


To all students and friends and parents we wish you all a very HAPPY HOLIDAY!

For those celebrating Easter - HAPPY EASTER! And for those travelling - stay safe :-)

Our new term starts on Tuesday 9 April.

Students from our Beaulieu Studio Shone on Stage!

Our studio, held at Beaulieu Preparatory School on Saturday mornings, delivered an incredible Parent Day Presentation to happy parents, grandparents and friends! It was so rewarding to see students participating enthusiastically and confidently in every activity.

Our classes aim to promote confidence and communication skills in children aged 3 - 18 years.

Our Beautiful Beaulieu Studio Students!!

The students of Beaulieu Studio come from Beaulieu Preparatory School, Kyalami Prep, Halfway House Primary and Summit College. This group of enthusiastic students LOVE to DRESS UP!! This week they came dressed for a party!! We performed a Mime to Music called The Marionettes...based on Cinderella - they were fanstastic!

Saturday classes Beaulieu Preparatory near Crowthorne are So Much FUN!!

 This week our Lower Primary class for ages 5-8yrs had great fun acting out a Mime to Music called "The Hunt". Mime to Music teaches students how to communicate non verbally through their facial expressions and through the use of their whole body. The group particularily enjoyed face painting the the use of props to enhance performance!

For children who live in the Midrand/Kyalami/ Beaulieu and Blue Hills area, there are fantastic classes at Beaulieu Prep School on Saturday mornings run by our wonderful teacher/principal, Juliet Jordaan.

Today was such a fun and wonderful day at our Studio at Beaulieu Prep! It was Dress Up day and the Lower Primary students came dressed up to the tee! Hats, Suncream, buckets and spades.. Well Done to all students and their parents for remembering! It made our play 'Fun in the Sun' very special indeed!!

Audiences really enjoyed the different plays they watched last Saturday...from The Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe to mean pirates, then off to the Circus and a trip to Egypt! The plays were colourful, fun and enjoyed by all ages!!

The Curse of the Pharoahs has hit Beaulieu Prep School....

Not only have the Upper Primary class, who attend classes on Saturdays at Beaulieu Preparatory School,  having a lot of fun with their play called The Curse of the Pharoah but they have also been learning interesting facts about Egypt and King Tutenkamen's tomb...

Dress Rehearsals at Beaulieu Prep!

Our first Saturday class had so much fun dressing up for their Circus play! They looked fantastic and they can't wait to showcase their work on the 26 November at the Centurion Theatre at 7pm!!!

Rehearsals at our Beaulieu Studio for our Year End Productions have started!!

Students are gearing up to begin working on their Year End Productions! Studios all over Gauteng are waiting in anticipation to hear what play their class will be presenting... The benefits of having children on stage in a relaxed atmosphere, where they work alongside their peers in successful groups, are enormous. Students across Pretoria and South Africa gain oodles of confidence thanks to their exposure to the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy.
