Talented Irene students have the 'WOW' factor!

Wow! Our students from our Iren Primary studio definitely have the 'wow' factor!

Give them a simple idea and they will create something incredible!
Many of these students have been attending Helen O'Grady Drama Academy for many years and they have grown into a great team!

Drama develops confidence and oral communication. As well as teaching students how to work as a team, increase memory skills and think out of the box!

Annlin Upper Primary working on their Mime to Music

The Upper Primary really enjoyed dressing up for their Mime to Music this week! We had clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists and more! This group really impressed their teacher Abby today as they used their creativity and discipline to put together an awesome Mime to Music called The Sad Clown.

After their amazing mime to music the students got into pairs and worked on their Prop Snippet. This exercise develops good thought processes, ad lib skills, developing good story telling techniques and basic theatre techniques.

Our Annlin classes take place every Wednesday at Victory Life church 83 Rosemary road. For times, dates and costs please contact Juliet 0829091630 or email juliet@helenogrady.co.za

What does 'love' mean to you?

What does love mean to you?
This was the question posed to our Brooklyn Youth Theatre this week.
It was interesting to get our teenagers thoughts....acceptance, romance, mum, kiss...
This week our teenagers worked on silent  film techniques as well as developing their own creative short film pieces.

Students from our Brooklyn studio go on a scientific expedition

Our drama classes in Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoons are extremely popular! Students from the surrounding schools such as Waterkloof Primary, Brooklyn Primary, Crawford Pretoria, Pretoria Oos Laerskool, meet at the Kykkos Hall, Greek Church for an hour of fun, fantasy and creativity!

This week students were asked to dress up as though going on a scientific expedition. They had so many creative ideas and it was amazing to watch their improvisation develop with a solid beginning middle and unexpected ending!
