Midstream Upper Primary in full swing!

Our Upper Primary group for ages 9-12years are so ready to show off their acting skills at our annual production at the State Theatre on 12 November!

Their play is wonderful and they have really enjoyed creating characters and working on this exciting play!!

Visit to Midstream Studio

On Wednesday Principal Juliet Jordaan visited our Midstream Studio - she said, "It is always so wonderful to visit the Midstream studio! The students are simply amazing!"

The Lower Primary were very busy practising for their upcoming play and they delighted in showing off their skills to Juliet!

Kindy Drama Classes at BeNS

Our Kindy classes at Beaulieu Nursery School (BeNS) are so much fun and at the same time students are learning important life skills - like sharing, learning to work together and of course oral communication skills!

Movement is also a very important part of our curriculum - This week during our Fun and Fantasy theme we explored a mime to music called The Bright Balloons 

- the students used their bodies to create different shaped balloons!

First Friends journey through South Africa

The students at First Friends Montessori are only 3-5years and for many of them this was their first time on stage!!!

Despite their young age they put on an incredible performance!

Their play took the audience on a taxi ride through South Africa - the students taught us all about Zululand and Chaka Zulu as well as how Mandela spent 27 years on Robben Island. It was fascinating!! 

Of course they sang lots of fun songs and amazed the audience with singing the National anthem "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrica"

Every student at the school participates in Helen O'Grady Academy's weekly drama programme and they are learning important life skills - like how to project their voices and articulate clearly as well as learning how to share, work together and be creative! We also teach them how to be comfortable getting up on stage in front of an audience! 

The most important thing is that they all had fun yesterday and enjoyed the experience!!

Speech and Drama at Earth Kids

We started our kindy drama class at Earth Kids with intro activities...everyone was very excited to find out what the Marvellous Maryka had in store for them!

Then we moved onto our speech exercises- speech is a very important part of our class and we spend time practising our projection and articulation exercises.

We went to visit some interesting lands today! Fun and Fantasy is our theme this week and of course these wonderful children used their creative imaginations to make up some very creative destinations!!

Wierda Park Lower Primary on top form!

These wonderful students from our Lower Primary class (ages 5-9) are having such fun rehearsing for their upcoming production- their facial expressions and actions are priceless!

Teacher Maryka is very hands on!! The children love to see what she is going to do next!! Maryka is very passionate about  drama and the students are learning so much from her...today they learnt the importance of reacting and how acting is more about what you DO rather than what you SAY!

We have just finished classes for the term and our Wierda Park studio will reopen on Friday 14 October.

Upcoming Year End Production

From our studios in Midrand all the way to Pretoria North we are preparing for our Year End Production at the State Theatre from 7-13 November!

This is an exciting time for students and teachers alike!

Our Brookyn studio are well on their way with rehearsals and having so much fun at the same time! After all it is not just the finished product that is important but the journey getting there - that is when we learn so many important life and theatre skills!

Midstream Parent Presentation- a huge success!

Our presentation began with an excellent introduction written by two of our talented Youth Theatre students!

Our Lower primary showed the audience how we do intro activities and speech!

We were entertained by the Upper and Youth Theatre performing mini scripts!

Our Upper Primary performed an excellent Verbal Dynamics piece followed by a well executed structured scene called Ulysses and the Sirens...

Well done Midstream students - your enthusiasm and dedication to the drama classes really paid off and everyone enjoyed the show!!

And of course we ended of the presentation with our Awards Ceremony ...it is so important to celebrate our Students dedication and commitment!
