Wierda Park Lower Primary loved being on stage!

After their introductory activities they demonstrated how they warm up their voices for Speech!

Then they went on to perform a Mime to Music called The Astronauts!

Finally they performed The Sleepover- definitely their favourite improvisation this term!

Our Mid year Parent Presentation gives parents an opportunity to see our award winning curriculum in action and it gives our students a platform to perform in an  intimidating environment!

Wierda Park Upper Primary class

Term 3 Underway way this week!

Monday 21 July was the start of term 3. It has been wonderful to see all our students back after what felt like a very long holiday! 

We would also like to warmly welcome all the new students who started Drama for the first time this year!

On Fridays we teach our programme at Wierda Park Reformed Church on the corner of Meyer and Willem Botha rds. 

The Lower Primary Performed a great play today called Planning Pays Off. They had so much fun ad libbing and they learnt all about recycling!

Monologues for the Wierda Park Youth Theatre

The drama students from our Wierda Park Youth Theatre (for ages 13-18) are amazing!

They love improvisation and they have proven to be very creative!

Wierda Park Lower Primary love their Toys

Drama classes at the Reformed Church in Wierda Park are very popular!

We teach ages 5-18 in separate age groups every Friday afternoon.

The Lower Primary class for ages 5-8 really enjoyed bringing props and dressing up for their play A Visit to the Farm.

'How Clumsy!' was our Mime to Music that we performed today...everyone came dressed up to the nines and the performance was great! 

Classes are held every Friday at Wierda Park for ages 5-18.

This week's dress up theme and Bring a Friend

This week Monday 3 - Saturday 8 February all students in Lower and Upper  Primary are dressing up as Cavemen and Cave women!! 

This can be very easy...messy hair, brown or animal print clothes and dirty faces!!

This is for our Mime to Music called 'No Meat'!

The students are going to have a lot of fun with this! 

This week is also Bring a Friend Week!

This means that students can bring a friend (or 2!) along to drama for a free lesson!! 

Wierda Park Lower Primary Having Fun at The Farm

This week our wonderful Lower Primary class (aged 5-9) had a chance to dress up as farmers and farm workers for their play Down at the Farm. After a hard mornings work collecting eggs, milking cows and shearing the sheep they got to relax and enjoy their picnic lunch! This group clearly demonstrated excellent ad lib skills during their play. They used strong voices and their imaginations helped to bring the play alive! Well done to all of you!!

It is so lovely to see children enjoying their Stage Experience as much as these students from our Wierda Park Studio! They are aged 5-9yrs and performed their play with enthusiasm, courage and energy! Well Done boys and girls!

Not only were the students from Wierda Park studio dressed to the nines but their acting skills were flawless and they put on a remarkable show for their audience! Congratulations!

TERM 4 IS UNDERWAY!!!

Yes that's right! Tomorrow 8 October marks the beginning of our fourth term!

 

Welcome back to all our wonderful parents and awesome students! This is going to be a very exciting term of productions: The Grasshopper and the Ants, Tray Chic and Fancy That by the Lower and Upper Primary classes, and our pantomime Cinderella in Africa performed by our Youth Theatre classes. This is a short action-packed term and we have much to accomplish in a very short space of time.  It also affords all our young actors and actresses an opportunity to demonstrate their creative talents in a public arena.

The 10 and 11 November see some of our studios performing their plays at the Centurion Theatre in Lyttleton.

 

We can't wait - this is the teachers favourite term as we get to see our Super Stars on Stage!

We hope to see everyone in class this week and every week until the end of term!

Remember even when you are studying for exams you need to take worthwhile breaks and exercise your brains with fresh air and drama!!!
