Faerie Glen Lower Primary - what do you want to be when you grow up?

The wonderful lower primary at our Faerie Glen studio dressed up as who they want to be when they grow up...singers, doctor, vets, SPCA owner..
The students created a fantastic play revolving around their occupations.
Then they explored different aspects of movement- which they thoroughly enjoyed.

This week's dress up theme and Bring a Friend

This week Monday 3 - Saturday 8 February all students in Lower and Upper  Primary are dressing up as Cavemen and Cave women!!
This can be very easy...messy hair, brown or animal print clothes and dirty faces!!
This is for our Mime to Music called 'No Meat'!

The students are going to have a lot of fun with this!

This week is also Bring a Friend Week!
This means that students can bring a friend (or 2!) along to drama for a free lesson!!

Principal Juliet recently visited our Fabulous Faerie Glen Upper Primary Class...

For children who live in the Faerie Glen/ Moreletta Park /Lynnwood area of Pretoria, there are fantastic classes at the Faerie Glen NG Church on Monday afternoons run by our wonderful teacher, Larisa. We have students from many of the schools in the area
Our Lower and Upper primary classes had great fun acting out a mime to music called "The Marionettes". Mime to music teaches students how to communicate non verbally through their facial expressions and through the whole body.

Faerie Glen Upper Primary - what a creative group!

Students aged 9-12yrs attend classes in Faerie Glen on Monday afternoons during the school term! This group of creative and dynamic students thoroughly enjoyed their lesson yesterday! Apart from Wacky speech exercises that really do help to develop good speech these boys and girls explored different levels during movement and their verbal cannon during their play The Volcano was fantastic!

It's 'Bring a Prop' for all our Lower Primary classes this week!

This week the students from our independent studios have been asked to bring props relating to 'elderly' people - eg: shawls, glasses and walking sticks.
We have had so much fun teaching the children to use props and it is wonderful how much dress up and props enhance the performance!

TERM 4 OFF TO A GREAT START!!!

Welcome back to a very exciting term of productions: Pirate Joe and The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe, by the Lower Primary, Circus Capers and The Curse of the Pharaohs, by the Upper Primary and The Triumph of Trevor Truelove our Youth Theatre play. This is a short action-packed term and we have much to accomplish in a very short space of time.  It also affords all our young actors and actresses an opportunity to demonstrate their creative talents in a public arena.

Already in Week FOUR of the new term!!

Lower Primary at Faerie Glen

The Upper Primary - what an awesome bunch of students!
 The cool Youth Theatre...

The sometimes 'crazy' Youth theatre!
Classes from ages 5-18yrs take place every Monday afternoon from 3.30-5.30 at the NG Faerie Glen Church on Glenwood Road. Students are divided into separate age groups. Our main aim is to develop their self confidence and oral communication skills but most of all we want the students to have loads of FUN!! Because the best way to learn (and to remember) is through play!
