Saturday Brooklyn Lower Primary class visiting the hospital!

This week the students were asked to dress up as doctors and patients! They had so much fun with all the plasters and bandages! 

Using props and costumes helps the students to connect with the characters they are portraying!

Aargh! It's fun to be a Pirate!

On Saturday our Beaulieu students had so much fun dressing up as pirates! They performed an exciting pirate play using lots of pirate language!

We run classes for ages 5-18yrs every Saturday morning at Beaulieu Prep.

Annlin Upper Primary acting like Cavemen

This week our dress up theme is Cavemen and women. Our students from Annlin performed their Mime to Music with gusto! Congrats to you all!!

Students in the upper primary are ages 9-12. They come from all the different schools in the area- Northridge Primary school and Laerskool Wonderboom for example. We also have many homeschooled children who attend drama to develop their confidence, skill in oral communication and social skills!  

Star College grade 2 almost ready for their production

The grade 2's have been working hard on their play The Ants and the Grasshopper! They will be performing their play to friends and family at Star College Pretoria on Thursday 24 October.

Helen O'Grady Drama Academy visit Star college Pretoria every Tuesday morning and the lovely Larisa teaches all the grade 2's and 3's. They are always very excited for their fun drama class!

Spring Seminar with our Gauteng Principals

It may have been a chilly first day of Spring yesterday but once all the Principals and their teachers started workshopping our upcoming plays the energy and enthusiasm soon warmed us up!

Thank you to everyone who gave up their precious Sunday to train with us! It was extremely worthwhile and we are all very excited to start rehearsing the end of year plays!

Saddlebrook Stars!

Fun Freezes, lots of movement, team work and loads of fun! 

THIS GROUP OF WONDERFUL CHILDREN SHOW OFF THEIR SPEECH SKILLS!

BEAULIEU PREPARATORY GRADE 0 CLASS!

Although we run our programme at Beaulieu Preparatory on Saturday mornings for ages 5 - 18yrs, we have also opened a special class on Tuesday afternoons from 1 - 2pm just for the grade 0's!! They abolutely love their classes and they are looking forward to showcasing what they have been learning to their parents at the end of this term!

STAFF TRAINING!!!

Juliet Jordaan (principal of Pretoria) and Kerry Holbrook (principal of Johannesburg North West) recently  teamed up to give continued training to their wonderful teachers!
They obviously got so caught up in the training that they forgot to take photos!!!

Due to its success there are sure to be many more fanstastic training seminars over the year and this time we'll try our best to remember the camera!!

The principals and teachers are very excited about the upcoming term as the curriculum is dynamic and both teachers and children alike will thoroughly enjoy working through it!
Term 2 culminates in a Parent Watching Day - where parents are invited to watch a cross section of work the children have been doing during the term.

Students aged from 9- 12yrs take part every Saturday afternoon from 3pm -4pm in our Upper Primary Drama Group!

SAGEWOOD SCHOOL GRADE 1 - 7

The Helen O Grady Drama Academy runs its international programme throughout Midrand and Pretoria. The new classes held at Sagewood School in Midrand, under the direction of Principal Juliet Jordaan, have proved to be a huge success. Classes are held on Friday afternoons during the school term.  Grades 1 and 2 attend from 12h30 - 13h30 and Grades 3 - 7's attend from 13h30 - 14h30.Classes follow an extensive developmental drama curriculum which focuses on Presentation, Public Speaking and Performance Skills. Many of the children have signed up to Aardvark Casting, which is becoming one of Gauteng's leading Agencies with children who have acting experience. Because that's when Helen O Grady Drama Academy comes to their school to run after school drama classes!!!

The Lower Primary Group really enjoyed their MIME TO MUSIC this week called FIRE IN THE PIZZA PARLOUR!!
